Driving location processing and alerts stay on your device. A location is sent when you voluntarily report a camera. The app also collects technical data to operate the service and diagnose crashes. There are no ads or advertising tracking.
Who operates the app?
Gulf Radars is developed and operated by Hamam A. Alabdulla, an independent developer in Doha, Qatar. This policy explains data handling in the app and its services. For privacy questions and requests, contact hamam@gccapps.com.
What we collect and why
- Voluntary camera reports: after contribution consent and a report submission, we send the report kind, precise camera location, accuracy, travel course, speed and observation time as applicable. A camera-removed report identifies the selected camera. Optional details include road, camera type, direction, speed limit and a note. We use these to review camera facts. Do not put personal information in notes.
- Reporting identity: Firebase creates an anonymous user ID on the first submission, without a signup screen or a request for your name, email or phone. Reports are linked to this pseudonymous ID for ownership, abuse prevention and deletion. “Anonymous” does not mean reports have no identifier.
- Technical identifiers: Firebase uses installation/session IDs, and App Check uses attestation identifiers, to deliver configuration, protect the service and maintain stability. The app does not use an advertising ID or link the reporting identity to Crashlytics reports.
- Crash, performance and diagnostic data: the released app uses Crashlytics to collect crashes, stack traces, device resource state, and app and operating-system versions. Firebase also sends installation and configuration diagnostics. These support operation and stability; some Firebase diagnostics have a technical analytics purpose.
- Technical app interaction: Firebase Sessions records session timing and foreground/background transitions for session stability statistics. We do not record custom button or screen analytics.
Diagnostics may carry installation or session identifiers, but the app does not link them to the reporting identity. We do not attach driving coordinates, report content or the reporting ID to diagnostics.
What stays on your device
Driving fixes, nearby-camera queries, encounter history and alert decisions are processed on your device. We do not upload your driving history. Reports first enter a local queue and are sent when connectivity returns after your consent. Opening the app does not create a reporting identity.
No ads, cross-app or cross-site tracking, sale of data or sharing with data brokers. The app includes no Firebase Analytics product or custom behavioral analytics; the analytics described above concern service diagnostics. Your voice is not recorded: alert audio is pre-rendered on the device. The app does not request contacts, photos or payment information.
Service providers and public camera data
Google Firebase hosts reports and anonymous authentication, protects requests with App Check, delivers country settings through Remote Config and provides Crashlytics diagnostics. Maps use Apple MapKit. Public camera files and this page are hosted on GitHub. These services receive ordinary connection metadata, such as an IP address and technical request information; the app sends neither its reporting ID nor trip history to the map or camera-file host.
Service data may be processed outside your country under the providers’ arrangements. See the policies for Firebase, Apple and GitHub.
The camera database contains data from © OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database Licence (ODbL) 1.0. Files are available in the public Gulf Radars data repository. Contributions are reviewed before publication. Accepted camera facts may be added without the reporting identity or your private notes; unreviewed reports are not displayed live. Community data can be incomplete or outdated.
Your choices and deleting the reporting identity
You can use the map and alerts without reporting. Grant location permission to start driving; end the session to stop its location updates, or change permission in iOS Settings. Contributions are optional and require separate consent.
While stopped, open Settings → Delete identity and confirm reporting-identity deletion. The app stops uploads, deletes that identity’s submissions from the server, then deletes its anonymous Firebase user and local report queue and resets contribution consent. Server deletion needs connectivity. An interrupted deletion stays pending and resumes online before any new upload.
What this does not remove: a minimal ID-linked quota/deletion fence remains to prevent abuse and conflicting requests until manual cleanup, targeted at 90 days. There is no automatic deletion job. Identity-free review decisions and accepted camera facts already distributed under ODbL remain; downloaded copies cannot be recalled from other devices. This action does not delete Firebase installation identifiers or Crashlytics diagnostics. The developer’s private review exports require separate cleanup.
Retention, security and requests
Private reports are retained for review and service operation. Older submissions and quota records are subject to manual cleanup with a 90-day target; private review exports are deleted when no longer needed. Manual cleanup can be overdue: we do not promise automatic deletion on day 90. Diagnostic retention is managed through Firebase services separately from reporting-identity deletion.
We use encrypted connections, ownership-based access rules, app attestation and submission limits. Other app users cannot access private reports. Voluntary reports are processed with your consent to provide the service; technical data supports service security and maintenance.
To request access, correction, a copy or deletion of your data, or ask about rights under applicable law, email hamam@gccapps.com. We may need enough information to locate anonymous records. Uninstalling the app alone does not delete server data. If you contact us, we use your email and message to respond to your request.
Children and policy changes
The app is for drivers and is not directed at children. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted personal information so we can review it. When data practices change, we update this page and its effective date and seek new consent where the change requires it.
