Privacy Policy

The short version
Papyra (ورقتي) does its work entirely on your device. It has no servers of its own, no user accounts, and no analytics or tracking of any kind. Your scans, documents, and recognised text stay on your iPhone or iPad. They only ever leave your device if you choose to share, save, or print them.
- No account and no sign-in.
- No developer server — Papyra never uploads your documents anywhere.
- No analytics service, no advertising, no tracking, no data brokers.
- The only off-device interactions are Apple's purchase system and exports you start yourself.
Who we are
Papyra (Arabic: ورقتي, "my paper") is a document scanning app for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains how the app handles information. If you have any question about it, contact us at hamam@gccapps.com.
What Papyra does not do
Because this is the heart of how Papyra is built, it is worth stating plainly. Papyra does not:
- require an account, email address, phone number, or any sign-in;
- send your documents, scans, or recognised text to us or to any third party;
- use any analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or tracking SDK;
- build a profile of you, or share or sell any information about you;
- contain any networking code to a developer-run server — there is no such server.
What Papyra handles, and where it stays
Everything below is created and stored only on your device, inside the app's private storage. None of it is transmitted to us.
Your scans and documents
The page images you capture and the PDF files Papyra assembles from them, along with document titles and the folders you organise them into. These live in the app's private storage on your device.
Recognised text (OCR)
To make your documents searchable, Papyra recognises the text inside them in Arabic and English using Apple's on-device Vision framework. This text is stored inside your document and its index on your device. Text recognition happens on the device; no page is uploaded for processing.
On-device usage counters
Papyra keeps a few simple counters in the app's local settings — for example the date of your first scan and how many scan sessions you have started. These help the app behave sensibly (such as knowing when to remind you before a free trial renews). They are stored only on your device and are never transmitted anywhere.
Your settings
Preferences such as whether you have enabled the app lock are stored locally on your device.
Device permissions
Papyra asks for a small number of iOS permissions, only when a feature needs them, and uses each only for that feature:
Camera
Used to capture pages when you scan a document. Papyra does not record video or use the camera in the background. Images are processed on your device.
Photos — add only
If you choose "Save to Photos," Papyra requests add-only permission so it can place the exported images in your photo library. It never requests access to read or browse your existing photos.
Face ID / biometrics
If you turn on the app lock or lock a folder, Face ID (or your passcode/PIN) is used to unlock it. Face ID is handled entirely by iOS; your biometric data never leaves the device and is never seen by Papyra.
Notifications
If you start a free trial, Papyra schedules a local reminder before the trial converts to a paid subscription. This notification is generated on your device — there are no push notifications sent from a server.
The only interactions that leave your device
There are exactly two ways information can move off your device, and both are under your control.
1. Purchases through Apple
Papyra offers an optional Pro subscription and a one-time lifetime purchase. All purchases, billing, free trials, and renewals are handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. Apple — not Papyra — processes your payment and Apple ID information; Papyra never sees your payment details. Papyra only learns whether an active entitlement exists so it can unlock Pro features. Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
2. Exports you start yourself
When you tap Share, Save to Files, Save to Photos, Print, or Copy Text, you decide where a document goes. At that point the document is handed to the destination you picked — for example iCloud Drive, the Photos app, a printer, or another app you share to. Once a document leaves Papyra this way, it is governed by the terms and privacy policy of wherever you sent it. Papyra never performs any of these exports automatically.
iCloud sync (planned feature)
A future version of Papyra may offer optional syncing of your documents across your own devices. If added, this would use your own iCloud account (your private CloudKit database), managed by Apple under your Apple ID — not any server run by us. It would be optional, and this policy would be updated to describe it before it ships.
Data sharing
We do not share your information with anyone, because we do not collect it in the first place. There are no advertising partners, no analytics providers, and no data brokers involved in Papyra.
Children's privacy
Papyra is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. Regardless of a user's age, Papyra collects no personal information, so no special data-collection concerns arise. If you believe a child has sent us information by email, contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention and deletion
Because your documents live only on your device, you are always in control of them:
- Delete an individual document or folder inside Papyra to remove it from your device.
- Delete the Papyra app to remove all of its documents, recognised text, and local settings from your device.
We hold no copy of your documents, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on a server. Emails you send to hamam@gccapps.com are retained only as long as needed to answer you.
Security
Your documents are protected by your device's own security, including iOS data protection tied to your device passcode. Papyra additionally offers an optional app lock (Face ID or PIN), the ability to lock individual folders, and password protection on exported PDFs. Because nothing is transmitted to a server, there is no server-side data that could be breached.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data. With Papyra those rights are satisfied by design: since your data never leaves your device, you already have complete, direct access to it, you can export it at any time using the built-in export destinations, and you can delete it at any time on your device. We hold nothing about you to disclose, correct, or erase on your behalf.
International users
Papyra processes data only on your device, wherever you are. There is no international transfer of your documents to us because they are never sent to us.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Papyra handles information, we will update this page and change the "last updated" date above. Significant changes — such as the introduction of the optional iCloud sync described above — will be described here before the relevant feature ships.
